Filzmoos is a traditional Austrian Village in  the province of Salzburg, away from the hustle and bustle, yet still in the midst of the Ski Amadé Region.

It has attractive pistes right down to the village centre and is also close to the Dachstein Glacier region.  It has short distances to the lifts with  no queues, lots of space on the piste and snow guaranteed.

It is an ideal place for families, beginners, intermediates and those looking for a change.  It is also a training resort of future skiing professionals.

Filzmoos is for lovers of winter sports in all it’s forms, with the 4 man chair lift up onto the Grossberg or with the Papageno Gondola up onto the Rossbrand for which you can ski back down into the village right back to our front door.

You can ski from the top of the Grossberg chair lift across to the village of Neuberg and back.

At the top of the Papageno Gondola there is the high mountain Rossbrand trail which is 14 kms long at 1600 – 1700 metres for cross country skiing for which there is also a footpath alongside.  There are 20 kms of other classic valley trails.

Ramsau, the cross country paradise is not far away.

Hot Air Ballooning

Filzmoos is known as the balloon mecca of Austria with the 30^th International Flaga Hot Air Balloon Week 2009 taking place from the 10^th to the 17^th of January 2009.  This is where hot air balloon teams from all over the world compete for the title.

The ‘Night of the Balloons’ takes place on Sunday 11 January and all through the village centre the balloons will be inflated and tethered, creating a spectacular sight.

Hot air balloon rides are organised regularly in Filzmoos throughout the Winter.

Filzmoos Leisure Centre

Filzmoos has its own leisure centre with indoor and outdoor swimming pools and is within 5 minutes walk from Haus Lowe.  Free entry to Haus Lowe guests from winter 2008/9
